So it has been a while, I know....

I am not sure if anyone still stops by my page anymore and really there has not been any reason to. I have not posted any thing new for almost a year. But every morning my home page loads and up pops Aluminum Nest and I think, "I really need to post something new." In fact a lot needs to be updated on my page. So here I go, a new post.

Meebs and The Bird Pre-Game Faces

 Yesterday the girls, J and I had a family day. We decided to grill out and make ribs and play Wiffle Ball. This was the first time I got to see the girls hit the ball with out a t-ball stand. Meebs had several ground hits and The Bird had two home runs, over the back yard fence. I have really enjoyed watching J and the girls bond through sports and playing outside. We also got to experience J's homemade ribs and sauce. It was a 2 day process from start to finish. Dry rub and marinating over night and then 6 hours of smoking on the grill. We also had 2 kinds of sauce; hot and sweet. I know it all sounds pretty normal, but I am just really thankful and blessed to have this new life with my husband and two girls. More to come.

Pizza Mia!

Today we celebrated Meebs 4th Birthday! One of her favorite foods is pizza and we went to a local restaurant where kids can make their own pizza at the table. Here some pictures of the girls working on their creation and being silly! We had an awesome time.

Everybody Dance Now

The girls and I are enjoying all the new toys, books, and art supplies that family, friends and Santa brought. We have been busy working on our moves thanks to Aunt Barbie. She sent us a Wii game called Just Dance Kids. All the songs are sung by kids and the routines are age appropriate for the girls. Tonight before bedtime I got some footage of The Bird and Meebs shakin' it to Everybody Dance Now. Reminds me of my Cougarette days at CHS.

Christmas Eve

Just came home from my Mom's for Christmas Eve. The girls are in bed and Santa's snack has been carefully positioned in the living room. We had a great time visiting with the family. We all went to church, ate and opened presents. Here are photos from tonight. Merry Christmas!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

 Today the girls and I went and selected our pumpkins at a local church. They had a great time running up and down the aisles looking at all the different shapes and sizes.  Meebs was quite distracted and enjoyed picking up acorns. The Bird was very concerned about the imperfections and the flat sides of the pumpkins. With a little guidance and after about an hour I think we got it just right. Here is some of the fun!

The Bird's Box

I wanted to share with you, what The Bird has been up to at school. She is beginning to read and it is very exciting. Everyday I see her progressing and she is not intimidated at all to try to read. Last month she had to design and decorate a box that she will keep all of the little books she makes at school. The box will be stored at home, in her reading nook, that she helped me create in the living room. The Bird spent one week working on the box and took her time painting, cutting and gluing. I supplied scrap booking materials, stickers, paper, glitter and paint and she ran with it. The results? Nothing short of artistic perfection.

Working Girl

By wisdom a house is built and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures
 Proverbs 24:3-4

Part of my journey has been to restart my career. I practiced interior design for 3 years before I had my children and was blessed for a while to be able to stay at home with them. This month my girls and I will be starting a new chapter. I have accepted a full time position with an interior design firm in town and my girls will be starting new schools next week. This is an exciting time for all of us!

Hopefully, in the next couple weeks and months, I will be sharing with you some of my projects. For now you can have a look at the website http://www.smartinteriorsfurn.com/index.html
